FAQ

Is the edge really free?

Yes. The Fairvisor edge is MPL-2.0 open source. Deploy as many instances as you want. No license fees. No usage limits. No phone-home requirement.

Do I need the SaaS?

No. The edge works standalone with a local JSON config. The SaaS adds policy management UI, analytics, alerting, and audit — but it’s optional.

What counts as an "edge"?

One registered edge instance connected to the SaaS control plane. Multiple Nginx workers on the same host count as one edge.

How does Scale overage work?

Scale includes 10 edges in the base $499/month. Additional edges are billed at $25 per edge per month.

Do you offer annual billing?

Yes. Pro and Scale support annual billing with a 15% discount.

Can I self-host the control plane?

Not currently. The control plane is SaaS-only. The edge is self-hosted by design.

Does Fairvisor SaaS see my API traffic payloads?

No. Fairvisor SaaS does not process request/response payload traffic. It receives only aggregated enforcement metadata (counters, policy events, and usage summaries).

Can I upgrade or downgrade at any time?

Yes. Plan changes take effect immediately. If you downgrade, access to SaaS features adjusts at the next billing cycle. No lock-in.
